Title: iMovie

Publisher: Apple

Available For: iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone

Cost: $4.99

Review: iMovie is an amazing app from Apple that allows users to create movies on their iPods and iPads. This app makes it easy to import photos and movies to create your very own. It's like having a movie editing studio in your pocket. I have used iMovie in class to have students create vodcasts of concepts they have learned in class. Students can take pictures of things around the school and then make movies. Students can also take video clips and edit them on the iPods. Wow. Kids will be so engaged in the learning process that they won't want to leave.

Title: TempoPerfect

Publisher: NCH Software

Available For: iPhone, iTouch, iPad

Cost: Free

Review: TempoPerfect simulates a metronome which provides a precise beat both visually and audibly. Use in 5th-7th grade math classes to demonstrate the concept of “constant rate” by comparing 60 beats per minute to 120 beats per minute. Use in health classes to simulate heart beats per minute for different levels of physical activity. Musicians can use the simple and compound tempos to demonstrate advanced tempo patterns.

Title: TonePad

Publisher: LoftLab

Available For: iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone

Cost: Free version available, $.99 for Pro version

Review: Tone Pad is an app that let's you discover your inner musician. The app allows you to create songs by simply touching dots on the screen. The music is then created for you. Upload your songs to the Tone Tap website and get codes to give to your friends so they can hear your songs. This app would be fun in music class and even in math class to discuss the fractions of the beat. Lots of fun. I couldn't put it down the first time I tried the app.
