May 10th Pre-conference Sessions

All ITIP Ohio Google Summit attendees are encouraged to attend a pre-conference session! Begin your Google-tastic experience with a hands-on dive into fun Google lessons that can be adapted to your own classroom. All pre-conference sessions are free with registration and will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky.

March Madness

March has a way of bringing people together - whether you are a basketball fan or not, you have probably at one point and time gathered in front of the television (or secretly around your work laptop) hoping to see that one Cinderella team defy the odds and achieve far greater success than anyone ever could have imagined. What if you could bring that same excitement, that madness into your classroom? Your library? Your building? Your community?

What if March Madness was no longer solely about basketball but instead about cultivating a love for literature, building relationships, and of course that one Cinderella story. By utilizing the many tools offered in the Google Suite you can create a tournament or challenge that is sure to bring the excitement of March Madness into your building/district. Join us as we dive into the elements of creating a challenge such as this one and how you can connect your building, district, and community.


Zombie Apocalypse

It’s not your typical PD day. Your fellow conference attendees run in and tell you the resort is on lockdown. Cell phone service is down. Roads are blocked. Someone jokes…”I wonder if it’s the zombie apocalypse?” It’s time to give collaboration a whole new meaning.

Do you think you have what it takes to survive the Zombie Apocalypse? In this mysterious, ‘undead’ session you will put your survival skills, and your Google skills to the test. Working in collaborative teams, you will utilize numerous tools within the G Suite to create an action plan to help you survive in this digital adventure.

A digital adventure is an active, collaborative learning experience for students. Combining the versatile features of Google tools with some creativity, you can design many different scenarios for your students. Once teams figure out & share how to survive the zombie apocalypse, the session will offer some templates that span a broad range of age levels, themes and content areas to help you create your own themed scenarios and digital adventures.


Getting Started with Google

G Suite for Education provides the most efficient way to not only create and access files from anywhere but also collaborate and share with others. G Suite’s Google Drive offers a complete suite of apps you can use to create, collaborate on, or share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, and forms. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of using this valuable tool and how it can streamline your workflow and simplify using technology in your classroom. Feel like you’re a Google beginner or novice when you attend the conference? This session will be your “prerequisite” and set your learning foundation for all the sessions that are available to you on Monday and Tuesday.
